The increasing problem of noise
It is a fact of life that noise is all around us: whether it is our neighbours talking, playing music, entertaining or outside noise from traffic or industry.
Intrusive noise can have many effects, depending upon the severity and the type of noise. Low levels may only cause minor irritation, marginally compromising our quality of life but higher levels can result in sleep loss, stress, high blood pressure and migraines.
Our quest for a quiet oasis has unfortunately collided with a dramatic rise in the scale of noise problems in recent times, with complaints in the UK trebling between 1986 and 1996. This trend has continued into the current century with over one quarter of households bothered by noise - half of which are complaints regarding neighbours.
Controlling intrusive noise
Fortunately there are ways to control and reduce noise, whether it is airborne noise from speech, stereos, televisions, musical instruments, etc. or impact noise from footsteps, slamming doors, dropping objects, etc.
In the past airborne and impact noise was 'solved' by adding thick layers of sound absorbing materials or resilient layers into the construction and in most cases (especially in remedial and renovation projects) were impracticable and unsuccessful.
Isomass produce a variety of products and solutions for treating and upgrading:

• walls
• floors
• fittings (such as baths and kitchen cabinets)

• refurbishments
• conservation projects
We use a series of specialised foam materials in the majority of our products to achieve the noise reductions. These foams are made from reconstituted fibres which meet the requirements of all Building Regulations, are unaffected by heating pipes or sealed elements, are safe to handle and provide excellent impact performance by eliminating the 'bounce' which can be associated with lower quality materials.
